“Leyla Yenirce (b. 1992, Qubîn, Kurdistan) is a German-Kurdish artist based in Berlin. She works interdisciplinarily across painting, sound, video and performance. Her practice engages with a range of themes, including representations of feminist resistance and structures of media power.
In doing so, she brings together elements that often seem contradictory: war and genocide, pop culture, longing and irony.

Her solo exhibition Werdegang is currently on view at the Landesmuseum Oldenburg. In 2026, her work will also be presented at 47m Contemporary in Leipzig and Museum Brandhorst in Munich. Yenirce has further exhibited at the Mattatuck Museum, Waterbury; NS-Dokumentationszentrum, Munich (2025); Kunstmuseum Magdeburg (2024); Museum Folkwang, Essen (2024); Deichtorhallen, Hamburg (2024); Kunsthalle Münster (2024); Haus der Kunst, Munich (2023); Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst, Leipzig (2023); among others.

Yenirce studied at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg and at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.
Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the ars viva prize, the Berlin Art Prize and the Finkenwerder Förderpreis.”

*The lecture will be held in English.
**(Studio visits offer students the opportunity to exchange with interdisciplinary artists via individual feedback sessions.
The format of discourse between participants and invited artists is left open to the encounter itself,
allocating time and space for students to contribute in ways that best fit their practice.)
